Allowlist
Noun · Security & Infosec
Definitions
A list of explicitly permitted entities such as IPs, users, domains, binaries, or actions, with everything else blocked by default. Allowlisting is often stronger than blocklisting when the set of trusted items is small and known.
In plain English: A list of things that are explicitly allowed while everything else is denied.
Example: "The admin endpoint was restricted through an IP allowlist instead of being exposed broadly."
