Emergency Access

Noun · Security & Infosec

Definitions

  1. A controlled way to grant high-privilege access during urgent situations when normal approval paths are too slow or unavailable. Good emergency access mechanisms are tightly logged, time-limited, and reviewed afterward so they do not become permanent backdoors.

In plain English: Special high-level access used only in urgent situations.

Example: "They used the emergency access account during the outage, then rotated its credentials and reviewed the session."
