1. Security policy and tooling used to control which applications are allowed to run on a system and under what conditions. It is commonly used to reduce malware risk and unauthorized software execution.

   In plain English: Security controls that decide which apps are allowed to run.

   Example: "Application control blocked unsigned binaries from running on the finance laptops."
