Application Whitelisting

Definitions

1. A security approach where only explicitly approved applications are permitted to run, with all others blocked by default. It is highly effective in controlled environments but can be operationally demanding to maintain.

   In plain English: Allowing only approved applications to run and blocking everything else.

   Example: "Application whitelisting was practical on kiosks because the allowed software set rarely changed."
