Mail Gateway

Definitions

1. A server or service that processes email entering or leaving an organization, often enforcing spam filtering, malware scanning, policy checks, and routing controls. Mail gateways are central security choke points because so many attacks still arrive through email.

   In plain English: A service that handles and filters email traffic for an organization.

   Example: "The malicious attachment was quarantined by the mail gateway before it reached any inboxes."
