Frame Rate

Noun · Development

Definitions

  1. The frequency at which consecutive images (frames) are rendered or displayed, measured in frames per second (FPS). 60 FPS is the standard target for smooth interaction; VR requires 90+ FPS to avoid motion sickness.

In plain English: How many pictures per second your screen shows — higher means smoother. 60 FPS feels smooth, 30 feels choppy, and below 20 feels like a slideshow.

Example: "The game runs at 120 FPS on PC but we cap it at 60 on mobile to save battery."
