Rogue Server

Definitions

1. A server that is deployed or operating without proper approval, inventory, or security oversight, or that is impersonating a legitimate service. Rogue servers create serious risk because they can host malicious content, capture credentials, or expose data outside controlled infrastructure.

   In plain English: An unauthorized or fake server operating outside normal control.

   Example: "The incident response team found a rogue server in the cloud account that had been collecting API logs and secrets for months."
