Remote Management

Noun · Security & Infosec

Definitions

  1. The use of network-based tools and interfaces to configure, monitor, and maintain systems from a distance. Remote management is operationally essential, but if poorly isolated or exposed it can become one of the most dangerous attack surfaces in an environment.

In plain English: Managing systems from a distance using network-connected tools.

Example: "The breach review found that remote management interfaces had been left reachable from the office network instead of the restricted admin segment."
