Definitions

1. The protection of cloud-hosted data, workloads, identities, networks, and control planes through architecture, policy, monitoring, and operational controls. It includes both traditional security concerns and risks unique to highly dynamic shared environments.

   In plain English: Security for data, systems, and identities running in cloud environments.

   Example: "Cloud security became a board concern once most core workloads moved out of the datacenter."
