Infrastructure as a Service — a cloud computing model where virtualized computing resources (servers, storage, networking) are provided on demand over the internet. AWS EC2, Google Compute Engine, and Azure VMs are canonical examples.
In plain English: Renting virtual servers and storage from a cloud provider instead of buying and maintaining your own physical hardware — pay for what you use, scale up or down anytime.
Example: "We moved from our own data center to IaaS and stopped worrying about hardware failures at 3 AM."
