Known Vulnerability
Noun · Security & Infosec
Definitions
A software or system weakness that has already been publicly or privately identified, documented, or tracked. Known vulnerabilities are especially important operationally because organizations can no longer claim the risk was unforeseeable once patches or advisories exist.
In plain English: A security weakness that has already been identified and is known about.
Example: "The compromise exploited a known vulnerability that had already been listed in the patch bulletin for months."
