Risk Owner

Definitions

1. The person or role accountable for deciding how a specific risk will be handled and for accepting the consequences of that decision. A risk owner is not always the person doing the remediation, but they are the one who must approve, fund, or tolerate the outcome.

   In plain English: The person accountable for deciding what happens about a specific risk.

   Example: "The cloud engineering manager was named risk owner because her team controlled the exposed service and the budget for fixing it."
