1. The technical and procedural actions used to ensure defined security policies are actually applied rather than merely documented. Policy enforcement can involve access control, MDM rules, gatekeeping workflows, automated checks, and disciplinary or approval processes.

   In plain English: Making sure security policies are actually applied and followed.

   Example: "The cloud standard existed, but policy enforcement was weak because new accounts could still be created without logging enabled."
