Velocity

Noun · Development

Definitions

  1. In Agile/Scrum, the amount of work a team completes in a sprint, measured in story points or other units. Used for forecasting capacity, not as a performance metric — comparing velocity across teams is meaningless.

In plain English: How much work a team typically finishes in one sprint cycle, used to predict how long future work will take.

Example: "Our velocity has been steady at 40 points per sprint, so a 120-point epic will take about three sprints."
