Feature Parity

Definitions

1. The state where a new system or version supports all the features of the system it's replacing. Often a migration blocker — users won't switch until the new system does everything the old one did. Achieving 100% feature parity before migration frequently leads to 'second system syndrome' where the rewrite takes forever.

   In plain English: When a new system has all the same features as the old system it's replacing.

   Example: "We defined feature parity as the top 20 features covering 95% of usage — chasing 100% parity for features nobody uses would delay migration by a year."
