Personal Firewall

Definitions

1. A firewall running on an individual user's computer or device to control inbound and outbound network traffic for that specific system. Personal firewalls were especially prominent in standalone desktop security and still matter for endpoint isolation and local policy enforcement.

   In plain English: A firewall that protects one person's computer or device.

   Example: "The laptop's personal firewall blocked unsolicited inbound SMB traffic on hotel Wi-Fi."
