Definitions

1. The protection of logs, traces, metrics, dashboards, and observability pipelines so they do not leak secrets, accept tampered data, or become a high-value attack path. Observability platforms often contain rich operational details, making them both useful and sensitive.

   In plain English: Securing monitoring and observability systems so they do not expose sensitive data or become attack paths.

   Example: "Observability security became urgent when the team discovered API tokens and customer identifiers appearing in trace payloads."
