1. A shorthand for debates over whether something should be built as a native app or a web-based experience. In engineering slang, the phrase often stands for a whole bundle of tradeoffs around performance, reach, tooling, and user expectations.

   In plain English: The debate between building something natively or as a web-based experience.

   Example: "The roadmap meeting got stuck in native vs web because everyone was really arguing about staffing, distribution, and offline behavior rather than the labels themselves."
