A mocking phrase for choosing languages, frameworks, architectures, or product directions mainly because they are fashionable rather than because they fit the actual problem. It usually describes teams that over-rotate toward novelty at the expense of clarity and maintenance.
In plain English: Building things based on whatever is fashionable instead of what is actually needed.
Example: "Replacing the stable queue with a trendy distributed stack felt like hype-driven development."
