1. A joking phrase for writing tools, scripts, or refactors because a workflow, dependency, or codebase has become so frustrating that irritation itself becomes the main motivator. It usually implies productive spite rather than a formal methodology.

   In plain English: Building or fixing something mainly because the old way annoyed you too much.

   Example: "The new deploy wrapper was pure hate-driven development after the old shell script failed for the fourth release in a row."
