Forward Proxy

Definitions

1. A proxy server that sits between internal clients and external destinations, making requests on the clients' behalf. Security teams use forward proxies for filtering, logging, access policy, anonymity control, and restricting direct outbound communication.

   In plain English: A server that sends internet requests for users or internal systems.

   Example: "All developer traffic to the internet had to pass through the forward proxy for inspection and policy enforcement."
