Backup Strategy

Definitions

1. The plan for how data and systems are backed up, retained, validated, and restored to meet recovery goals. A strong backup strategy considers frequency, scope, immutability, restore testing, and which failures or incident types the backups are actually expected to handle.

   In plain English: The overall plan for creating, keeping, and restoring backups.

   Example: "Their backup strategy changed after the ransomware exercise showed nightly snapshots were not enough for the database RPO they had committed to."
