Restore Point
Noun · Security & Infosec
Definitions
A saved system state that can be returned to later in order to recover from corruption, failed updates, or some classes of compromise. Restore points are useful for rapid rollback, but they are not full backups and may not be sufficient for serious incident recovery on their own.
In plain English: A saved system state that can be restored later if something goes wrong.
Example: "The workstation recovered quickly from the bad patch because a recent restore point let IT roll the system state back safely."
