1. The sequence of activities through which value is created, delivered, and captured, from sourcing and production to distribution and customer support. Understanding the value chain helps startups see where margins, bottlenecks, and opportunities actually sit.

   In plain English: The full sequence of activities through which a business creates and delivers value.

   Example: "Owning more of the value chain improved margins but also made the business more operationally complex."
