  1. An access control list applied at a network port or interface to allow or block traffic based on defined criteria such as source, destination, or protocol. Port ACLs are used on switches, routers, and similar devices to enforce local traffic restrictions close to the connection point.

    In plain English: A rule list on a network port that controls what traffic is allowed through it.

    Example: "The switch port ACL limited the contractor subnet so it could reach only the ticketing system and nothing else."
