Monitoring Agent

Definitions

1. A software component installed on a system to collect telemetry, health metrics, logs, or security-relevant events and send them to a central platform. Monitoring agents are useful for visibility, but they also become important trust and reliability dependencies in a security architecture.

   In plain English: A small program installed on a system to collect and send monitoring data.

   Example: "The server looked clean at first, but the monitoring agent had been disabled before the suspicious outbound traffic began."
