Managed Detection and Response

Definitions

1. A managed security service in which an external provider delivers threat monitoring, detection engineering, triage, and often incident-response support using telemetry from a customer's environment. Managed detection and response is more operational and investigative than basic alert forwarding because the provider is expected to analyze and act, not just notify.

   In plain English: A service where an outside security team monitors for threats and helps respond to them.

   Example: "The company chose managed detection and response because it lacked a 24/7 in-house team to triage endpoint and cloud alerts."
