Flood Attack

Definitions

1. An attack that overwhelms a service, link, or system by sending a high volume of traffic or requests until resources are exhausted. Flood attacks can target bandwidth, connection tables, CPU, or application logic depending on the protocol used.

   In plain English: An attack that swamps a system with too much traffic or activity.

   Example: "The login API stayed up under normal load but collapsed during a flood attack of repeated POST requests."
