Ping Flood

1. A denial-of-service attack that overwhelms a target with large numbers of ICMP echo requests, consuming bandwidth, CPU, or response handling capacity. Ping floods are one of the simpler traffic-flood techniques, though modern networks often mitigate them better than higher-layer attacks.
