1. Informal language for committing even harder to a decision, pattern, or direction instead of reconsidering it. In engineering slang, doubling down can mean confidence, stubbornness, or both.

   In plain English: To commit even more strongly to the current direction instead of reconsidering it.

   Example: "Instead of simplifying the config model, they doubled down slang-style and added one more layer of environment overrides to preserve backward compatibility."
