Code Pasta

Noun · Slang & Abbreviations

Definitions

  1. A joking term for code that has clearly been copied and pasted around, often with only partial adaptation, leaving repeated patterns, duplicated bugs, or inconsistent variable names behind. It is closely related to 'copy pasta' in developer slang.

In plain English: Copied-and-pasted code that has been reused too casually.

Example: "The auth service was full of code pasta, right down to error messages mentioning functions that didn’t exist in that repo."
