1. A sudden spike or surge in cloud resource usage, traffic, or spending that appears abruptly. In ops slang, cloud burst can refer either to elastic scaling behavior or to the unpleasant billing shock that follows it.

   In plain English: A sudden surge in cloud traffic, capacity use, or cost.

   Example: "The marketing campaign caused a cloud burst that autoscaling handled technically, but finance still wanted an explanation for the overnight jump in compute cost."
