A sudden wave of load or latency caused by many requests hitting a cache at once, often during warm-up, expiration, or invalidation events. In ops slang, cache slam captures the brute-force feeling of a cache layer becoming the source of pressure instead of relief.
In plain English: A burst of pressure caused by cache misses or cache churn happening all at once.
Example: "The rollout triggered a cache slam because all tenants invalidated at the same time and the backing store got hammered rebuilding the same hot keys."
