Definitions

1. A method of circumventing a security control, policy, or expected validation path without directly disabling it. Bypasses matter because a control can appear present on paper while still being ineffective in practice.

   In plain English: A way around a security control or restriction.

   Example: "The patch fixed the original path but left an alternate bypass through a debug-only header."
