1. A slangy way of saying that a code change caused the project’s build or continuous integration pipeline to fail, often affecting the whole team. The phrase is common because shared build breakage is highly visible and immediately disruptive.

   Example: "Whoever merged that path rename broke the build for every downstream package job."
