A term used for systems or features that automate complex tasks with minimal human intervention, or more loosely for behaving automatically without much deliberate thought. In tech culture it often carries both excitement and caution because 'automatic' systems still fail in very human ways.
In plain English: An automated mode that handles work with little direct human control.
Example: "The new deployment autopilot handled routine rollouts well, but the team made sure operators could still intervene quickly when metrics drifted."
