Automate Everything
Phrase · Hacker Culture
Definitions
A cultural motto that encourages replacing repetitive manual work with scripts, tooling, and systems wherever possible. The phrase can be inspirational, but taken literally it can also ignore the cost of over-automation.
In plain English: A mindset that says repetitive work should be automated whenever possible.
Example: "Their first ops lead believed in 'automate everything,' but later admitted some low-frequency tasks were cheaper to leave manual and well-documented."
