Slap a Band-Aid

To apply a superficial patch that hides symptoms without fixing root causes. In engineering slang, slapping on a band-aid is sometimes necessary under pressure, but it should not be confused with a durable repair.
In plain English: To put on a quick superficial fix instead of solving the deeper issue.
Example: "They slapped a band-aid on the queue timeout to get through launch weekend, knowing the retry model would still need a real redesign later."
