Noun · Slang & Abbreviations

Definitions

  1. A state from which recovery can resume without losing everything, borrowed from video-game logic. In engineering slang, save points are the intermediate checkpoints that make risky operations survivable.

In plain English: A recovery checkpoint you can safely resume from if things go wrong.

Example: "They inserted a save point between phases of the migration so the team could verify state before committing to the irreversible part of the cutover."
