Read Access

Noun · Security & Infosec

Definitions

  1. Permission to view or retrieve data, files, records, or other resources without necessarily being allowed to modify them. Read access may sound limited, but in many environments it is enough to expose sensitive customer, financial, or credential information.

In plain English: Permission to see or retrieve information without changing it.

Example: "The service account had only read access, but that still included all payroll exports and employee home addresses."
