Definitions

1. The interface or state that prevents continued use of a device without reauthentication after it is idle, manually locked, or resumed. Lock screens are a basic but important control against opportunistic misuse of unattended devices.

   In plain English: The protective screen that blocks use of a device until it is unlocked again.

   Example: "The incident happened because the shared workstation had no automatic lock screen timeout on the production floor."
