Persistent Backdoor

Definitions

1. A covert access mechanism designed to survive reboots, user logouts, or normal cleanup attempts so an attacker can return later. Persistent backdoors may be implemented through services, scheduled tasks, startup items, implants, modified firmware, or cloud control plane changes.

   In plain English: A hidden access method that stays in place so an attacker can keep coming back.

   Example: "The attacker had installed a persistent backdoor as a scheduled task that redownloaded the payload every time the server restarted."
