Incident Severity

Definitions

1. The assigned level of seriousness for a security incident based on impact, scope, exploitability, and business consequences. Incident severity drives who gets involved, how fast response happens, and whether outside reporting thresholds may apply.

   In plain English: How serious a security incident is judged to be.

   Example: "Once customer authentication systems were affected, incident severity was raised from medium to critical."
