ICS Security

Definitions

1. The protection of industrial control systems such as PLCs, SCADA environments, HMIs, and related networks that operate physical processes. ICS security differs from ordinary IT security because safety, uptime, legacy protocols, and physical consequences heavily shape the tradeoffs.

   In plain English: Security for industrial systems that control physical equipment and processes.

   Example: "The plant could not just patch everything overnight; ICS security had to account for safety and process continuity."
