Definitions
Version 3 of the GNU General Public License, which updated GPL terms to address issues such as patent retaliation, anti-circumvention, and device lockdown practices sometimes called tivoization. It remains a major copyleft license with strong obligations and strong opinions around it.

Example: "They avoided GPL v3 because the hardware business did not want the anti-lockdown provisions touching its deployment model."
