Flat Round

Definitions

1. A financing round raised at roughly the same valuation as the previous round rather than at a step-up valuation. Flat rounds can preserve continuity but may signal slower-than-expected progress.

   In plain English: A funding round at about the same valuation as the prior one.

   Example: "They got the capital they needed, but the flat round changed employee expectations around upside."
