Definitions

1. Short for domain generation algorithm, a technique malware uses to generate many pseudo-random domain names so operators and infected hosts can rendezvous without relying on one fixed domain. DGAs make takedown harder because defenders must predict or block large changing sets of domains.

   In plain English: A malware technique that keeps inventing new domain names to stay connected.

   Example: "The botnet's DGA rotated daily, so blocking yesterday's domains did almost nothing."
