1. A foundational component that other parts of an application or platform rely on heavily for shared behavior or structure. Core components are usually harder to change casually because regressions there ripple across many features.

   In plain English: A key component that many other parts of the system depend on.

   Example: "Authentication became a core component once every product surface started depending on the same session and permission layer."
