Definitions

1. Any measurable computational capacity such as CPU cores, memory, GPU time, or allocated execution slots used to run software. Compute resources are often treated as schedulable units in cloud and cluster environments where cost and capacity planning depend on explicit accounting.

   In plain English: Processing capacity such as CPU, memory, or GPU used to run software.

   Example: "The batch backlog grew because the image pipeline was starved of compute resources during the same window that recommendation training jobs were ramping up."
