Definitions

1. The process of estimating future resource needs such as CPU, memory, storage, throughput, and concurrency so systems can handle expected growth and peak demand. Capacity planning combines traffic forecasts, bottleneck analysis, and safety margins rather than waiting for real users to find the limits first.

   In plain English: Estimating how much infrastructure and performance headroom a system will need.

   Example: "Capacity planning showed the new video feature would saturate object storage egress unless the CDN path was enabled before launch."
